hi guys so

I (M23) am a part-time voice actor. It isn't really something I do professionally and I don't get paid much, if not at all, for my "jobs".

Anyway, my friend (M24) asked me to voice act for a small script that he made about racial issues in the past. You can kind of see where this is going...

The script had the n-word in it, and I said it. The whole thing honestly turned out pretty great, so my friend and I decided to celebrate with a little party that consisted of me, my friend, my girlfriend (F22) and his boyfriend (M24).

Before the party started, we all listened to the script, but my girlfriend and his boyfriend got sort of mad at us about it. They said, since we (my friend and I) are both white, we shouldn't have included the n-word in our script since it wasn't our word to say.

Honestly, I don't believe we did anything wrong. It was historically accurate and we aren't using the word as an insult. But, my girlfriend and his boyfriend don't seem to think so.

So, Reddit AITA for accurately reading my friend's post.

By the way, sorry if i don't answer any questions fast, I'm about to go to bed, but i will answer in the morning.
