Possibly dumb opinion from someone who didn't actually thoroughly play WoW

Discussion

When I say I didn't play thoroughly the game, that's because I have never actually gotten into a guild and raided properly. I have only participated in one raid in LFR during BfA. Aside from that, I've leveled and played multiple characters both in Classic and Retail.

For me, World of Warcraft is at it's best during leveling. Sure, raids and dungeons are fun, but during leveling, World of Warcraft is THE single best game ever conceived. Not the best MMO, the best game, literally ever.

That's because the World (of Warcraft) is definetely what WoW does best. I have tried other MMO's, but none other to date comes close of creating such a perfect sandbox like WoW does. The first time I played WoW, I was 12 during cataclysm. My parents didn't trust in internet transactions so they didn't want to get the subscription to WoW, so I only played to level 20. Those 20 levels were the single greatest gaming experience of my life.

That's why it's so shocking to me how WoW acts as if the entire world is only a mean to getting to 60. Not only that, but levels themselves are only a stepping stone to getting to the max level. Sure, getting to max level is the end purpose, but I don't think that levels other than the max one should be ignored.

For comparison, I want to present an example: Dark Souls III.

Naturally, both games couldn't be more different, however, there is one thing Dark Souls III does extremely well and that is providing value to lower levels. I used to watch a streamer Called ChaseTheBro which invaded in Dark Souls 3. The interesting thing is that he almost never invaded the "meta" levels (80-120 in DS3), instead chosing to invade comparatively low levels (40-80), because the pvp combat in those was, in a way, better than in higher levels when characters were fully decked out.

I believe there are multiple ways of implementing something similar in World of Warcraft, not only as PvP goes, but as far as farming and PvE goes to.

Firstly, PvP in WoW is too complicated. To play correctly in any RPG based game, like MOBAs for instance, the crucial factor is understanding what your opponent can do so you can counter him, or understand that he can't be countered and therefore he can't engage. PvP in lower levels could be tuned to be a simplified but more action packed combat.

As farming goes, what if late game items required low level materials to craft and the game encouraged you to use low level characters to do so? The profession I had whenever I played was mining-smithing and that's what I have in mind when I propose this, but what if some low level itens required large amounts of bronze to craft and collecting bronze was more effective with character that were in lower levels? That would populate lower level areas and incentivize combat there, creating a whole new aspect to gameplay.

As far as PvE goes, I find it ridiculous that the only raids that are relevant for the game, as far as experience and loot go, are the ones on the current patch. Of course they are going to be the hot shit, but do they have to be the ONLY shit?

A lot of these problems to me look as if Blizzard has populational concerns with their game: they fear that if they spread the population throughout the world, the world is going to feel emtpy, specially the new content they might introduce with the DLC, so they make sure that the only place in the world it's worth being is in the new content, but WoW need not be concerned by that. Even today, after everything that happened, WoW still has a pretty big population, one that could support whole Azeroth's not only halves of it.

I hope the bald man see's this and answers to my ideas, giving insights on what I am wrong. I admit that I have not played the game enough to really understand how a WoW addict thinks, but I think my ideas could help the game.
