How do you even stay hopeful about new jobs anymore?
I just accepted my very first actual full-time position. It has a 6 month probationary period and after that you're pretty much completely safe from being fired. It has lots of vacation time, sick days, paid holidays. Good pay for an entry level position and opportunities for promotion. It has a reputation for being an incredible place to work in terms of the amount of benefits and pay compared to other jobs in America. I am excited and I am relieved that maybe I'll finally not be broke anymore after a year of unemployment.
But there's that part of me that's just like ugh, what's going to be horribly wrong with this one? I've been excited about jobs before. I've gone through the honeymoon period then had it fall apart. I feel kind of jaded now like it's harder to be hopeful and positive that maybe this one will be decent. And knowing I'm about to begin — best case scenario — a career of 40 hour weeks, early mornings, so much less free time, really going all in on capitalism. The end of funemployment.
What do you tell yourself to stay in a good mindset?
