Transfer student experience

I’m a student from London joining UCSB from January to June, so just winter and spring quarters, and I just wanted to ask what I should expect the overall experience to be like. Are ppl friendly? Should I get a roommate? Can I join the football (soccer) team? And how can I go to all the frat parties and other stuff if I don’t know anybody? Thanks 😅
