Friend spends hella money on consumerist stuff

I got my friend a position at my job 6 months ago. He’s making almost 6 figures and my salary is double his. Despite this he’s living paycheck to paycheck and complaining about his pay

He also lives with his dad still and when I tell him he’s getting a bit close to the sun and should move out he replies that he doesn’t have a kid to take care of and that he’s fine (he’s almost 25)

“Let people enjoy things” or whatever but it’s annoying hearing him crying about his financial burden 24/7 when he actively looks to spend his money on random stuff.

He gets the newest x thing yearly and pays t-mobile Like 300$ a month. He has a car that’s 1000$ a month, he orders DoorDash daily and constantly needs to “upgrade” his stuff

My theory is that SSRIs zapped whatever pleasure and happiness he had in his mind and it can only be filled with consumerist joy
