SAS drives worth it for Plex?
Just bought a R440 that will be used for my main deployments and plex being one of them and was wondering if anyone is running sas drives on thier plex servers and is it worth...
My server is mostly 4k files and im at about 23tb used already so theres alot of data to crunch through when im searching for media thats not in cache...
R440 has 192gb of ram and will running truenas so most of that ram will be used for cache and i have a 1tb drive on the way for either metadata or cache...(ill take opinions on that as well)
Just not sure which way i should go for the bulk storage...Sata or SAS 🤔...My current server has 2x20tb exos drives in stripe but if syncthing has to run alot of backups it nukes my read speed and people have a hard time playing 4k files off my server ..I would be buying 4 20tb drives and running them in stripe since ill have 2 back up locations( i will buy more storage for those locations when i reach my limit) ...So maybe that config would be plenty fast for just sata but opinions please ...I wont have to worry about my read speed getting nuked on the R440 cause i will not have that system backing up to anything...It will be the final destination in the chain....
But will SAS drives make the overall experience better since i am dealing with a ton of 4k files or a waste of mula ??
