Asking Q to leave

I've known Q since we were 12 and we've been living together for 10 years in a home we rent from my mother. I have tried several times during our relationship to break up and I could never make it stick. This sub has taught me how common that is with an alcoholic. I never had problems ending a relationship before, and he blames it on my seasonal depression. We both have health issues and he says he needs extra time to find a place. Can we wait until spring? or I need a place that takes pets. Even though I want to keep them. At times, the fear of losing my cats keeps me paralyzed. I can only imagine the fear of those of you with children! So how do I get him out in a timely fashion but respectful to his limitations? He has a lot of friends, days off, and money, so I suspect he could get going quicker than he says. I know I can't control any outbursts or stalling.
