Deep thoughts about death

I was walking my new puppy I’ve had for a couple months now in the forest that I used to walk my old girl in all the time. I started thinking about death and I was thinking about cremation and I had the thought “can your atoms burn? can they vaporize?” I thought about how everything is made of atoms and that if you were to be buried it’s like.. your atoms would absorb into the earth. But the thought of your atoms burning scared me for a moment because I always said I wanted to be cremated, and I also had my girl cremated. Anyway, I googled “can atoms be destroyed?” and they cannot. Maybe that’s a dumb question, I’m not sure if that should be common sense but I honestly wasn’t sure.

The fact that atoms can’t be destroyed made me feel so relieved about death. I don’t feel scared of it now because I can’t ever be destroyed. I’ll still exist, just scattered around as my atoms are recycled. Just like how my girl still exists somewhere in the universe. I honestly believe that when she died on my lap I absorbed some of her atoms. And a part of her stays with me. It’s comforting to know that she didn’t actually just stop existing because that’s what I believed before.

I thought I would share with you guys because maybe it will bring you some comfort too.
