Parents wanted to follow me to college in a camper, the idea mead me so uncomfortable

[Progress]

Essentially the title. All throughout growing up my family moved around a ton. In addition to, well everything else that came from life and living with narc and generally toxic parents, this really fucked me up. Also, since I was "gifted" or as I now realize was being undiagnosed neurodivergent, started thinking about where I wanted to go to college from an early age. My brothers both have disabilities, and required a lot of care on not just my parents but also my part.

As I started getting older and talking more about this subject with my parents, they made the comment that they should just get an RV/camper to constantly travel the country. That way they could come visit me whenever they wanted. This always, for reasons I never really recognized until now, made a pit in my stomach open up.

They expected so much of me as a caretaker for my brothers and as a student... without ever really giving me the skills I needed to do either successfully, or at least to their full satisfaction. It was always expected I go above and beyond in both arenas. And I've realized that if they had done as they had said, I would never be able to gain independence.

In other posts I mentioned they both abandoned me in another state essentially I've been on my own since. Partly as a result of that, I ended up not going to college immediately following my senior year. I'm still not in college, but now due to other circumstances I'm finally in the same state as the school i dreamed of, with some great community colleges. And neither of them should be aware of my move, let alone my newest address so I don't have to worry about them showing up anymore, as we as being NC with both of them and I've only shared certain info with my aunt who refuses to tell her sister (my mother).

Life is still not terribly great. But at the same time... I finally have a job, since their expectations didn't allow me to get a job befire and other circumstances made it much harder to work. I'm saving money for get a car with my partner, at which point I'll be able to get a different job and health insurance. So I can finally after nearly 4 years replace my glasses. Which means I can learn to drive, something my father kept promising to teach me but never did, and get my license. And then I can start saving to pay for some pre requisite classes at a community College, or online. Then I can work on going ot my dream school.

It's only happenstance, really, that I've ended up in the same state as my dream school. But now... I'm free of them. I can get back on track for college.
