Part time vs full time?

Career planning

Anyone choose to work part time, or perhaps 2 part time or per diem jobs instead of 1 full time position and find it to be much less stressful and more beneficial in the long run?

I'm about to do something like this because the full time job is basically slave labor and the thought of doing that for 20+ years straight sounds like hell on earth. Working part time or per diem gives me back my freedom as well as leverage since I'm not dependent on any one job/employer.
