VP of sales doesn’t like me, don’t know how long I can take it.

Sales Leadership Focused

Recently promoted BDR manager at F500 company (SaaS business unit). I moved up from a BDR role within the company after a year, before that did 3 years in a BDR role outside the company.

I really enjoy working with my team and it’s a very rewarding part of my job. This year I hired 3 BDRs, trained them and now the entire team is hitting their targets. Coaching them comes east to me since I’ve done what they’re doing and I know how to be successful.

The part of the job that I’m struggling with is working with other department heads. Although I don’t report to him, our VP of Sales doesn’t like me and I feel pressured to try to work closer with him. Being 8 months into my current position, I’m still getting my bearings when it comes to participating on leadership calls. I just don’t know how to contribute when our VPs and managers of various department are on a call to discuss priorities and business strategies. I recently got feedback from the director I report to that I should work on being more vocal and I have been trying, but on a recent call when I was asked for input on marketing priorities (not my wheelhouse), I immediately shot down and basically told my input was stupid.

I feel like the more my involvement with this guy increase, the less time I will last here and it sucks because I worked really hard to finally land a role outside of the cold call grind. I’d like to continue doing what I do but I feel like I’m not even competitive enough of a candidate to look for a similar role at another company with less than a year of leadership experience and no college degree.

Any advice? Do I just see how long I can last here to solidify a stamp on my resume or are there other options I might not be considering?

Thanks I’m advance
