Suicidal Thoughts & Seeking Help

I’ve never felt comfortable in my own skin and have always been somewhat of an oddball — both physically and personality-wise. But, for the past few months, my dissatisfaction has intensified to the point where I have contemplated suicide. My feelings have gradually increased and now have gotten to the point where it’s the only thing on my mind. My appearance is not the only thing that has guided me towards these suicidal thoughts, but it is one of the main reasons. That may sound very vain and superficial, but I am affected by it every moment of every day. Knowing that I offer much beneath the surface but that most people will never take the time to realize it, due to my appearance, is a hopeless feeling. I have thought about cosmetic procedures, and believe that just a nose job or fat removal would improve my overall look. I’m not trying to reconstruct my whole face, and I think I have rather realistic expectations set for myself. Fixing my insecurities would finally allow me to accept myself and regain my confidence. I realize that surgery is never considered a good answer for BDD, but I wholeheartedly believe that it would help me see myself for the person that I've always been. I am contemplating wether or not to seek help for this and tell my family about my mental illness. The obvious answer is yes, but I just hope they would understand me and my admittedly wild thoughts, including those related to plastic surgery. I'm not looking for money from them -- just support and acceptance. I will end this post here, as it's long enough, but I thank anyone who took the time to read this and can offer help. I send out the best of luck to all of you that can relate.
