Why I refuse to see male doctors anymore when possible...

Short backstory, I had a really severe adverse reaction to the COVID vax which resulted in my body attacking my nervous system (sort of like Guillan-Barre except I don't have that apparently). I now have a slew of neurological issues and brain injury from it. And please don't take this as an anti-vax thing because I am not, I'm actually still very pro-vax. Anyway ...

One of those issues is Trigeminal Neuralgia (a.k.a TN) and my normal lady neurologist had me see a different neurologist in the office to have Botox injections to see if that helps instead of putting me on more meds. This neuro who does the injections is a man. So, he's asking me about my history and I explain when I first got TN. He asks if I had a brain MRI done, which I've had several (and a spinal one), and what the results were. I tell him it showed approximately 30 brain lesions with demyelination. He says "Oh, so you have MS.". I tell him no, I don't. He looks at me like he doesn't believe me so I elaborate and tell him that I've seen 2 MS specialists and have been tested for things that mimic MS and for about 40 or so additional disorders/syndromes/diseases and I don't have anything that causes the neuro issues I currently have. (Thus why our best guess is that the vax was the cause). He still obviously doesn't believe me because he calls my damn neurologist into his office and proceeds to ask her and she literally tells him the same thing. He asks if I've had lumbar punctures done and I tell him that I've had several that have come back "normal", i.e. no MS markers but I did have high pressure which diagnosed me with a different neurological condition. He just ignores me and looks at my neuro and again she tells him the same fucking thing. She also mentions that she submitted me to a COVID long hauler/ vax adverse reaction study that I'm on the wait-list for which again confirms what I already told him.

This kind of shit happens to me EVERY time I see a male doctor anymore. They don't believe me or they think that I don't have a clue about my own medical issues that I have been seeing doctors for for 2 YEARS. Not to mention the countless hours I have spent researching, reading scientific articles and speaking with fellow sufferers. I'm so tired of being infantilised and/or ignored. In fact, when my neurological issues started my male GP ignored my symptoms, including loss of hand mobility, for 6 months before I landed in the ER and was finally given a neurological referral. I had another down the line tell me that my massive weight gain was caused by my "lifestyle" (this man didn't even know my name, let alone my lifestyle) not the medication I was on that is widely known to cause massive weight gain. Which btw I lost all the weight and an additional 70lbs once I stopped taking it...

I'm sure some of y'all can relate so I'd love to get angry at your stories as well lol 🤦🏼‍♀️
