Fairly new to the painting scene.

Hi all! As the title says I'm fairly new to painting minis and am still learning so much about our great hobby. As I'm sure many new painters do i am seeing a few mistakes crop up in my minis, specifically having rough or textured finish to my base coat. Now I have been learning how to thin paints and to leave drying paint alone but is there anything I can do to fix these rough patches without commuting my minis to an isopropyl bath? Any advice would be majorly appreciated!
