I can't be the only one who...

SpoilerGeneral Discussion - [SPOILERS]

Gives their Tavs long, elaborate backstories based on their class and background?

Maybe it's just the D&D nerd in me rearing his character-loving-geek head, or maybe it's just my love of character design, but every single character I've made has been given some backstory that ties them into the plot (at least, in my head.) Of course, they won't ACTUALLY be tied into the plot unless they're the Dark Urge, but I genuinely have so much fun roleplaying their story like it's a Companion Quest. Hell, sometimes I even give their fake quest a name!

Playing around with mods has just made it worse. I give them all their own little secrets that they reveal over time - like my Paladin of Selûne who's a lycanthrope (using the werewolf passive mod), or my Draconic Sorcerer who's dragon ancestor is too close in his lineage for comfort (since in D&D lore Draconic sorcerers could even just have dragon parents instead of distant ancestors!).

It takes "what would my character do" to a whole new level. And shit do I have a blast. I love making my Tavs feel more compelling even if it's just in my head. My urchin character has a hoarding habit, or going for deceit instead of persuasion. My outlander character picks up every alchemical ingredient he comes across, and talks to every animal he finds. It's ridiculously fun, and even gives character interactions more depth in my head - my companions don't just talk to a blank slate who happens to be Baldurian.

I have whole sections in my notes app dedicated to each of my character's backstories. Some of them are multiple parts because I hit the character limit.

Am I just a total freak about my silly little videogame characters? LMAO
