charisma face or personality

i have a character in mind who is performer in every kind of entertainment you can imagine but mostly acrobatics. thing is part of his backstory is that during one of his performances there was an accident (firework to the face or something) that him rather horribly scarred. now he adventures because his employer fears his appearance will horrify people especially the kids (maybe he even believes it himself). anyway should i take a hit to charisma because ugly even though preforming is his passion? is charisma how pretty someone is or is it all confidence baby. or am i missing something else?
