How hard was it for you to renovate your home?
Hi friends! I'm a first time buyer and I've got two houses I'm choosing between, both in the same area. One of them is all fixed up and ready to move into, while the other needs love and care. I'm really drawn to the one that needs work - something about it makes me happy...But I don't know if I can handle the project? I'm hoping ya'll can help me be realistic! (After down payment and closing costs I will still have money left for repairs and changes)
How hard was it to fix up your home? Is redoing a kitchen going to ruin my life? Did you regret having to do work on your property?
Little explanation on the houses:
"Blue house" is the ready to go one! Detached. Smaller (bed rooms can just barely fit a queen bed with room on the sides to get in), more expensive, but has everything done: from a new kitchen to a fresh waterheater and HVAC system - they even painted the basement rafters. Its basically ready to move into. The roof is not new though.
"Green House" (half of a duplex) is much bigger and around 60k less - huge bedrooms and so so so much natural light, It has a sun room and they re-did the bathroom - but it needs a new kitchen and a small amount of work in basically every area. (small: ranging from fixing the paint job to fixing all the transition strips) It has a new roof but not new HVAC and waterheater.
