To my DA ex (dumpee reach out)

So two months have passed and non contact. Me and my da were together for 8 months before we call it quits. Within this two months, I have done some soul searching and realised what I could have done to make things better for us back then. We broke up with amicable terms. There were too much quarelling and seeing me crying hurts him and he can't take the pain and decided to leave. He claimed It's the best choice for the both of us at the moment to be separated and heal. In short, my anxiousness drove us apart. Now I'm in a better place after seeking therapy and I wanted to reach out to him. This is because we shared a good connection together. We had alot of fun together but the last two months before our But have been shaky. He also blocked me because he told me he needs to get rid of his negative emotions.

Knowing my ex, he will not unblock people and will just continue blocking them even tho he is alright with them already. He is a DA after all. But he told me blocking me is just temporary. I am not sure whether he means it.

He has a major competition this coming Sunday. I thought of reaching out to him first by emailing him all the best and good luck.

Is this a good choice? Any DAs out there? Would you he open to the idea of your ex reaching out to you first?
