Survivor mini boss

Major spoilers for the end of the game. Don’t read if you haven’t beaten it yet..

I’m on my 2nd play through and noticed that the survivor attacks you after he says he hears the springs and gears inside of you.

What happens if you save this mini boss until after you turn human? Does he still attack? Do you get any special dialog?

If it’s still the same then does anyone else feel that it’s a huge missed opportunity to maybe have some special item or dialog awarded to you for going back to him after you’ve turned human?
