I compost a lot of apple cores. Is there some easy way or tool for pre-macerating them so that they break down more quickly?
Yeah, we eat a lot of apples. Much of what we compost is food waste, plus other waste veggie matter. I use a barrel composter and roll it around the yard daily, but the apple cores take a long while to break down even though I chop them to pieces.
Any easy/effective way to speed the process/turn them to mush/whatever? Thanks in advance.
