Wands and non verbal magic

Was thinking, we see that non verbal magic is taught and expected starting in year 6 at hogwarts, but for dogwoods per pottermore “An interesting foible of many dogwood wands is that they refuse to perform non-verbal spells and they are often rather noisy.” Do teachers just accept that and allow dogwood wand owners to preform verbal magic?
