Why is the online so bad??

In older Forza's, you had online hoppers and could just join a lobby. What is this games obsession with having "events" and needing to qualify for them every damn time? Its time consuming, tedious, stupid and unnecessary.

Graphics aside, this Forza is inferior to most of the older ones.
