Something New vs Something Viewed

As I sit here about to press play on Word of Honor for the 172nd time, I wonder if anyone else faces the "New vs Old" choice when watching (any)dramas.

I have a list many-pages long of all the stuff I need to watch and yet...here I am again. Maybe it's the security of knowing the outcome of the story, or the love of its characters, or even joy at seeing the little things missed, even after 172 viewings. There is an innate comfort in watching an old series, the story familiar and known, touching on memories we enjoy, and I love being comforted by them.

Whatever the reason, find myself time and again coming back to my favorites after three or four New shows, knowing I'm neglecting the hundred others on my list.

So, is the "Something New vs Something Viewed" debate happening with others? And what is your comfort show?
