Would it be a good Idea to write english words with the Russian Alphabet to learn how to better pronounce the letters?

I've thought about it some and maybe if i write English words, but with the cyrillic alphabet, i can better learn the alphabet? I dont want to start learning the actual language in full until ik how to read it.
