My (30M) gf (29F) has not had a job for over 5 years and she insists that she want to become an astrologer
I am currently dating my middle school crush, we have been really close friends for over 15 years. In high school, we got split since I moved to a different city and lost track of her for some years. A couple of years ago we met again since she moved to the same city as me, and about a year ago that sexual tension that existed between the both of us led us to start dating and she has been my girlfriend for like 4 months.
I love how kind and caring she is. She is beautiful and a nice girlfriend, but I am concerned for her future. Before she had interests in things like medicine or computer science, but some years ago she quit every effort to pursue a profession she can use to build a career, to start "studying" astrology. She says she found in astrology answers that led her to understand better the people around her, and that she wants to be an astrologer to help others.
I think that she can do way more than that and that she needs to explore her potential before is too late. She has not worked for the past 5 years, she live and take care of her dad (over 70 with limited mobility), but do not do much besides that. She do not have sources of income or ways to come along with me in my plans unless I finance and plan everything. Nor make an effort to have them.
How do I make her realise she is wasting her time and start developing an actual career? I don't expect she become a rocket scientist but I want her to have tools to support herself once she has no one else who is willing to support her.
