My neighbour is not happy with my air conditioning. Harassing family, staff and potential renters.

Landlord Tenant Housing

Not sure if this is the correct place to post, let me know if it should be posted elsewhere.

As title suggests, my neighbour is not happy with the location of the exterior unit of my air conditioning. He also suggests it is too loud and keeping him up at night, compares the sound it makes to a helicopter.

Contacted my neighbours in October 2022, outlining plans to install air conditioning. Outlined where it would go and how much noise it would produce. Both neighbours agreed and so submitted it to the local council who approved it.

Fast forward to June 2023, he emails saying it is too loud and in the wrong location and that the professional who installed it is unqualified. Over the summer he continues emailing, so I get the sound it produces measured twice. Both times it is below the limit imposed by the council. He continues to email and text me and my family over the summer claiming it is too loud and it’s in the wrong location. He then continues to harass anyone who works at the house, such as my cleaner, letting agent and handyman. He shouts at them claiming that there will be ‘trouble’ if it’s not moved. He also confronted people who were looking round the property who wanted to rent it, shouting at them and asking them not to make any noise. Therefore putting them off renting it.

In an attempt to settle this, I get an estimate to move the AC and suggest that we split it 50/50 but he refuses. I then offer to split it 25/75, but he still refuses.

I have run out of patience, I’m open to any ideas or potential solutions. I’m currently thinking about emailing the council, registering his unauthorised complaints and his harassment of the staff and potential tenants.

Thanks in advance.
