First acceptance!

🌞 HAPPY

Wow, I’ve been waiting a long time to post this. It’s been a tough 2.5 years since I graduated college in 2021. My dad suddenly passed away three weeks before my graduation, and it changed my timeline for applying to medical school. He was my biggest supporter and we were very close, and his passing crushed me and my mom. Juggled a few jobs while also supporting my mom emotionally during that time. Took the MCAT three times after being unfocused and struggling to balance everything else that was going on. But, I’ve known that I wanted to become a doctor since I was 10 years old, and while there were certainly times along the journey when I’ve felt like giving up, I’ve always found a way to get myself back on track and not lose sight of my dream. Even though this is just the beginning, I’m proud of how much I’ve overcome to get to this point. While this may be silly, my dad actually showed up in my dream last night and held my hand while we sat on our living room couch. He told me how proud he was of my acceptance. I woke up in tears. 🥹

Thank you to everyone who’s gotten this far reading my post. To all who are still waiting for II’s, please don’t lose hope and never let anyone tell you what you can or can’t accomplish. I’ve seen the smartest and brightest of my peers quit premed when the road became tough, which is perfectly fine because everyone has their own path in life, BUT, it always serves to remind me that often times it’s not all about how intelligent you are on paper, but your resilience, grit, and mindset to power through various challenges on this journey. Best of luck to my fellow premeds, always keep your head up and remember there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, you got this! ❤️
