[TP] [SS] is the "Ancient Hero" referred to in Twilight Princess the "Hero of Time" or "Hero of the Sky?"
Given that TP is a sequel to Ocarina of Time (and Skyward Sword wasn't even a blink in Eiji's eye yet) it's obvious that the hero is intended to be from Ocarina of Time. But retcons happen all the time, and the official Zelda timeline made it make less sense.
The Hero of Time wasn't remembered in the child timeline, but it might made more sense if the Ancient Hero was Skyward Sword Link.
-The Armor has chainmail like in SS and it's also big. It's possible MM Link had it altered but I think the Hero's Shade armor is what he wore as an adult. -If TP only takes place a couple hundred years after OoT then it's hardly "Ancient" -The Goddess Hylia has been retconed as the main goddess that Hyrulian worship, despite not being referenced in any games prior to SS. So it's entirely possible that they remember the first hero of Hyrule. -Again, the hero wasn't remembered in the Child Timeline. Some might say that's part of what makes the Hero's Shade so tragic.
The only possible contradiction I can think of is wether or not the Hero's Shade SAYS the tunic belonged to him. Does that happen? I can't remember. What do you guys prefer? I think it would be cool if a mainline Zelda game referenced all three 3D Links (before BOTW) even if unintentionally, makes the lore a lot cooler.
