Friend wasn't paid for 2 training shifts, what are their rights?
wondering if anyone has any input.
Friend worked 2 training shifts (waiting tables at a retirement home) before signing documents (I know, red flag already). The employer is no longer responding to any communication, or booking my friend for any shifts. The most alarming part is that my friend has not been paid for their training.
I've been doing a bit of reading on Ontario laws and such, but I'm not sure when one becomes an employer who is entitled for payment.
- Employment Standards Act, 2000, S.O. 2000, c. 41<
“employee” includes,
(a) a person, including an officer of a corporation, who performs work for an employer for wages,
I know this isn't r/legaladvice, but since this occurred in Ottawa I was wondering what others may think here.
