Stories where the sad parts actually hit

So a friend of mine was going through one-piece and a recurring theme was of how sad x-part was. I myself have read up to dolf and dropped it until it actually finishes, but in my time of reading I was never really hit emotional by anything in one peice (except for the boat which is kinda strange) I always felt that the visuals kinda betrayed the tone or I just didn't care about the character. Tbh I'm not a real emotional guy in the first place so it might just be me. I can only remember two times I ever got teary eyed and that was shindlers list and the end of cowboy bebop, so I'd like to hear about some heart chokers
