And the 🏆 Goes Too…

Thanks to everyone who voted in the sub's recent series of Best of 2023 Awards. Here’s a recap of the results:

MVP: Sarah Gorden

It wasn’t even close – she captured 73% of the votes.

Most Improved: Madison Hammond

This was very close. Madison won with 42% of the votes but M.A. came in a close second with 37%.

Best U23 Player: Jun Endo

Jun won pretty easily with just under 50% of the votes but the second place votes were close with Anderson capturing 27% and Alyssa capturing 23%.

Comeback Player of the Year: Sarah Gorden

Another poll where Sarah won easily with 77% of the votes.

Best Signing: Amandine Henry

More than half (60%) of the votes went to the French star.

Best Goal: Sydney Leroux (Bicycle)

This one was pretty close in the early voting but Syd pulled away from Claire’s olimpico as more votes came in. She end up with 49% of the votes.

Best Assist: Clarisse Le Bihan (to Hammond vs OL Reign)

The team’s other French star scored a victory in this one with 42% of the votes.

Best Save: Angelina Anderson (vs Thorns)

There’s still some time left to vote for this one but Ang is running away with it with over 50% of the votes.

What’s the most surprising result to you?

I’m not surprised with Sarah’s big victories, and while I voted for Claire’s olimpico it’s not surprising that Syd won, but Jun getting half the votes as best U23 was surprising. I thought it would be a closer race between her and Alyssa and Ang would be a distant third. Good news for Alyssa is she’s eligible for this one for most of the rest of decade! (My early vote for 2024's Most Improved is Alyssa...and, of course, CP23 for Biggest Comeback.)
