OEM Windshield Worth It?

I unfortunately had a small rock hit my windshield today and leave a small crack. The dealership is saying they don’t recommend repair since it is in the driver’s line of sight.

The dealership wants $2270 for a windshield replacement. I could probably have it fixed for $300 through Safelite.

What does the OEM windshield do that makes it so costly? Any major downsides of going with a generic replacement?

Car is a 2020 RR Sport P525.
