Is Dreamlight Duties broken?

Help! I'm a relatively new player. Is there a limit/rule on feeding the animals? The last 2-3 days I'm feeding animals & not getting any credit for it whatsoever ... whether it's a dreamlight duty or under one of the general categories for feeding animals. I'm always feeding them their favorite food. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
