WIBTA if I work slow on my projects
Throaway coz..
I was hired as Sale Representative by a US company. In my profile, I do graphic design. Instead of doing calls, my boss (lets call him M) gives me tasks like doing persentations, ebooks, modules for the websites, etc. At first I love it since I hate doing calls again (I worked as a call center agent before for 4 years). I am being paid hourly but not for gig. I have a schedule given by W. My pay has issues, always late and I am being paid little by little everyday. He said there was an issue with the digital wallet.
There was an issue on time tracking. The video he sent is for tracking your task (put the task name and start the timer). I did this and made sure I do my job great and do it in a short time). I thought my pay will be based on that. At first it was since M always ask me how many hours I went to work that week. Then there's this one time where I asked about my pay and he told me less than what my hours at my tasks. I asked why. M said it is based on my time in time out. That wasn't on the video he sent on how to use the website and I was not informed. The site doesn't clock out automatically and I never clock in nor clock out. We agreed on a certain amount which I lost half day of work. I told M "so, I don't need to use the task tracker anymore and just make sure I clock in/out". He said just do what you've been doing. I didn't think much of it and stopped tracking my task and just clock in-work-clock out.
A problem arised. He told me to do the site, sent me the documents, and link of the site. I was told to stop the workbook and do the site first. I thought the contents on the site is a draft I need to edit (He gives me drafts or templates for the workbooks since when I started doing the ebooks on my own design, he complained and said to use the template which he didn't provide before I started the ebook). I asked if I should add the contents of the docs to the site or edit it in whole. He didn't respond. I edited it, sent the link again for him to check if it's good. He was worried. He said I shouldn't have done that and what I should have done is to make it as a separate module on the site. I spent hours to edit it and since I don't have experience on website designing, I only made like 4 pages. Luckily, I found a way to put it back to the original draft.
Now the pay, I was informed that I will have deduction on the work I shouldn't have done on the site depending on how many hours it took me. Since I didn't track my tasks and the only way to determine the time I spent was on the autosave of the website, I'm not sure exactly sure how many hours I spent, I also juggle to the ebook if I don't have any creative juices left for the site. The site doesn't show how many minutes before it autosaves. Furthermore, if I did any revisions for the second time, it will be a deduction.
I'm workaholic and I want to do my work good and in a short time. Now my pay will depend on how many hours I worked on a certain task.
WIBTA if I work slower than before? I will still do my best and in his preferences but I will work slower or take my time to do the tasks to complete the hours I 'm supposed to work. Like, instead of copying the contents of the documents and check for errors or doing adjustments, I will type it manually to the ebook instead since it will also based on the tracker and the site's used time of edit. I plan to do this to complete the 60 hours/week schedule that I have and stretch it for days. I also plan to do overtime since I have flexibility on my schedule. There are no due dates set on my tasks.
P.S. When I finished a certain task and there are no pending or new tasks provided and I have more time available in my scheduled hours, I take a break while the clock is rolling waiting for feedback. M gives feedback in 1-3 hours or sometimes the next day. If I haven't heard form him after taking a break, I review what I made to make sure it's great or update a list of number to call next year.
