Apple online trade-in shenanigans

So long story short, I found a titanium black iPhone 15Pro in store last week and decided to trade-in my 14P. Instead of trading in at store, I opted for the online trade in kit option. Received the kit, prepared the phone and had put it in the box and shipped it to Apple. fast forward today, Apple told mee they received the box but there is no phone in it.

I vividly remember sending them the phone but i am kind of baffled that phone is missing but box made it to the trade-in center. For last 5 years i usually opt to trade in at store but this year i decided to send in with trade in kit because I use my phone a car key for Tesla and that day my spare key card was at home. So decided to set that key to new phone and then trade-in. I think I learned my lesson not to do this ever again. not sure what happened with FedEx but this is killing me now.
