Major choice confusion. Biochem?

Degree

Hey everyone,

I’m currently a freshman here in LSA on the pre-med track. I’m thinking about majoring in biochem, but most people have been telling me it’s unnecessarily difficult. Is there anyone here that’s on the pre-med track and majoring in biochem? What do you guys think of the courseload? Is it manageable with other extracurricular involvements like research and volunteering? It seems interesting to me, but I don’t know for sure yet. Right now, I’m loving chem 210, and I’m doing research in a lab that’s focused on drug inhibition for cancer progression and treatment (so basically intersection of biochem and cell/molecular bio) and I love this as well. Any guidance or advice would be appreciated!
