I accidentally created a glaring plot hole. How can I fix this or should I rewrite the chapter?

Discussion

Basically this centaur king thought that a centaur guy (one of their best fighters was dead). He and his band of rebels had actually escaped capture from the enemy camp and faked their death so they could do more vigilante raids since they weren't officially at war with the enemy human empire. But the humans were granted access through their lands to the Fae (elves) kingdom. The main character is not this warrior but his girlfriend who is the crown princess of the centaurs.

She also thought he was dead which caused her to run away and join another faction where she met the main character of the story. She rescued him during a battle and a series of events culminated with them both being saved by the band of the warrior who they thought was dead and his troops. They returned to the centaur clan. However, I realize that I made an error because the main character sees her talking to the warrior and she clearly knows who he is and obviously everyone would know.

But then when the main character is talking to the king he does not know the centaur came back from the dead. Should I just amend this by saying that the warrior lied about his name and stuff? He does have slightly longer hair and a beard but I am worried he would still be recognizable as the warrior who was lost? Perhaps he said he was his brother or relative? Would that be convincing enough? Or should I just change the chapter so the king knows he came back from the dead?
