Just got diagnosed

Hi,

I just got the call today. I am now waiting for the surgeon to call me for an initial appointment.

I have a question about pushing for a mastectomy. Back in 2009, I had an abnormal mass removed and it came from the duct. I have now been told that I have IDC. I really don’t want to keep looking over my shoulder after this is taken care of.

A friend of mine had IDC a few years ago and hers spread to the lymph nodes and they still only performed a lumpectomy despite asking for a mastectomy.

What is the criteria for being able to have one?
