integrated socket on lamp shorts (europe)

hi, so I instaled a lamp with a switch and an itegrated socket. the lamp works as i'd expect, but when i pluged in the hairdryer and turnd it on it shorted (hairdryer works on other sockets). i have power om one of the two pins(?) and none on the ground, as it should be. could i have switched neutral and ground, would that explain it? or phase where neutral should be, neutral where ground should be and ground where phase should be? thanks
