My suggestion on how to come up with basic words for your language
I just came up with this idea, and thought maybe some of you out there who are struggling with this issue can try using this method!
Finding basic words to build your conlang is troublesome. I dont think copying the vocabulary of other languages with small-sized vocabulary like Toki Pona, or the others' lists are everyone's go-to methods. As they didn't work for me personally and also for some of my fellow conlangists!
So I figured out that, you can find the most basic words the early humans use, like 'fire', 'hunting', and 'cold', by reading/searching history books/websites about caveman, like the life of Neanderthals and Homosapiens. (Not necessarily books/sites in english, but also in other languages if you're not monolingual! You can also decide how how specific the meaning of the word is or whether it can have multiple meanings.)
You can jot down the words that you wanna include in your language, then decide which of them are the root words. Maybe even add the ones that you came up with.
I hope this can help you guys! 💪🏻💪🏻
