He (30M) stopped talking to me (26F), then randomly messaged me a picture of my dad. And then thumbs up a message I sent him.

He initiated the communication between us first. Flirted with me, told me he was interested in me, etc. We started talking a lot. At one point he told me how my dads IG account is always suggested to him (we have mutual friends and he was my brothers old high school friend, he’s not a stranger). He joked to me saying “can I add him?” I laughed back and was like “No!”.

Anyway, a couple days later he sorta just stopped talking me. Not for any particular reason, he just stopped. Like went MIA. I let it go figuring he just didn’t like me anymore. I wasn’t going to push. But even then he still watched all my IG stories and stuff. Weird I know.

And then randomly a few weeks later I get a message from him - a screenshot of my dads Instagram account being suggested to him. I didn’t know what to say or why he sent that considering he stopped speaking to me. So I just made a joke saying “Yep he’s being suggested bc he wants you.” He wrote back “Definitely 🥰”

I didn’t respond to that and he didn’t make any effort to keep it going, either. Do you think that his attempt at trying to talk again? If so, why wouldn’t he just say “So anyway, how are you?”. What was the point?

After this, we hadn’t talked again for another month. But then it was his birthday yesterday. So I decided to text him Happy Birthday. He thanked me and then asked when I was going to be in town (we live in different states at the moment). I told him when, but that I was only going to be there for a few days for a wedding. He thumbs up my message. Nothing else. Yeah I know… a thumbs up.
