Things are working fine for me after purposely using up my premium data, don't fear the 1 Mbps throttle!

TL;DR: I purposely used up my premium data a few days before the end of the billing cycle to see how it would go with the 1Mbps throttle. Just like USM has said, everything works just fine for the most part! So don't fear the throttle like some on here have posted about.

I figured I would test out the throttle this month. USM has the most generous throttle out there, and from what I am seeing, everything still works just fine and most people won't be significantly impacted or even notice.

Test conditions: iPhone 14 PM on Warp 5G with 2 bars of signal on 5G (not 5G UW), after using up all of my unlimited plans premium data. Ookla and Fast.com both show the 1.0 Mbps throttle.

Results: phone calls work, texts work, emails work, Netflix works, Spotify works, podcasts work, YouTube works, YouTube TV works, social media apps work, mobile web pages work, and so on. The only thing that struggled was a Facetime call, that was pixilated but did work. Seems Apple could do better at optimizing in low speed conditions like YT and YTTV.

These days things like YouTube auto scale the resolution so I didn't even have to do anything and things just worked. Usually scaled to 480P or 360P. That works just fine on a small phone sized screen.

Obviously very data intensive things like large downloads will take way longer, and you won't get those super high speed test speeds to brag about while throttled, but most normal thigns people do on the phone will work fine. And to those that have said "nothing works and the phone is basically unusable during the 1Mbps throttle", that simply isn't correct. Things work fine.

Thanks US Mobile!
