Some help with a weird situation, using solely my e-bike on a car account?

So here's the issue, I'll try to keep it short. I have car account linked to zego. I recently sold my car, and planned to change to an e-bike account as I now have an e-bike. However, currently (and for last 2 weeks at least) there is no way to change vehicle, it says they're updating the process and to not ask any more questions. Problem is to use my bike on my car account will cost me in hourly insurance that isn't even needed.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I was wondering what would happen with my deliveroo account if I cancelled my zego. I assume I wouldn't be able to go online and they'd request insurance proof?

Thanks everyone.

dumb move by deliveroo, screams of incompetence to remove a form before you've made the new one.

I know, it's been like this for quite a while too. Unfortunate timing for me.

Your assuming correct...you have to wait Till they do it or have to not use Roo.

Damn I guess no Roo for a while... I don't even know if they'll let me change back to ebike as I've already changed once from e bike to car a couple years ago

I thought moped were getting more jobs ? Or you are making the same money when insurance and all that is taken into account ?

Well if you can afford a decent moped. But Fuel, insurance and wear N tear. The Time I lose out of service needed on it and overall im better off on ebike. My ebikes has issues too quiet often too but let's be honest they not meant to cover 1000+ Miles each month. Have 3 ebikes and they are much easier to fix Than a petrol engie so for me the only way to do money is on ebike...last year clear profit was over £21k VS Moped £19k..

They'll ask for proof of insurance, will problaby give you some time but I found out if you lack insurance its very very very hard to get deliveroo to swap to bike account, took me couple of months with support to get it to change.

Thanks for the info. So due to your cancelling insurance before switching to bike, it was more of a hassle? I guess I'll have to just wait it out and hope they allow vehicle change soon. Even so, I was originally e bike, then to car, and now want to go back to ebike. I dont even know if they'll allow that!

Yeah, they were like we can't do vehicle transfers as we need your insurance documents. I was like I don't have that vehicle anymore how can I get insurance on it? Took me forever to prove that I don't have the vehicle and complained to even switch to ebike from the scooter.

You can work on deliveroo as ebike using a car account you just need to be careful about your delivery times, but if you do mostly short orders you'll probably be faster than a car on avg.

That sounds like a nightmare. Classic deliveroo support experience haha.

Yeah I've thought about this but paying the hourly insurance when I shouldn't have to doesn't sit right with me or my bank balance lol. I'm trying to think of ways around it if it turns out I cant switch to bike... Forge the documents even tho technically I don't even need them on a bike? 😂 It shouldn't be this difficult

Deliveroo having nobody relevant for a rider or customer to contact is pretty standard.

The fact that they put in the text something like 'do not reach out to support regarding this as we won't give you any further information or help' seemed like such bull lol -.-

Just cancel your zego and do deliveries in the meantime on the ebike eventually deliveroo will email u about insurance docs and whatnot so that may be an avenue to change to ebike

I was thinking about that. But someone on here said they had issues doing this!

Just use a different phone number and login with that until you can swap it over properly. On their end it'll just look like you've appointed a substitute rider on the account, which is perfectly okay.

What do you mean by that? Different phone number but login with rider ID, I would still get charged by Zego though right?

I'm not actually certain to be honest. I'd have thought a different phone, with a different number but logged in with your details might not link it with your Zego. But thinking about it, because it's integrated and Zego are in bed with Roo, it might still take it from your balance. Give it a try and see what happens, see if your Zego balance goes down?
