Greg Owen give a great review and explains why the term "adaptation" is being misused.

I actually like most of his videos, he goes beyond the basic woke hater rhetoric by actually engaging with the opposing ideas. Does he reflect my own points of view to a tee? No, but it is certainly better than the vast majority of criticism the show receives.

Can I dislike both things, this review and the show?

I skimmed through it but most of his points seem to make sense.

Though I understand objectivity in enjoying a show is an impossible thing, I like my reviewers to at least TRY and explain why the things they don't like suck.

This reviewer just took 10 minutes to say "I didn't like this show, fuck Rafe."

That's a fine enough statement, but then I get it. I don't really need to see the rest of the video if its ONLY going to be through the lens of "this garbage is inherently un-enjoyable".

Huh? I don't think that the hate level here is even above average as far as critics are concerned, and he does list the ways to fix the shit he disagrees with. Not that he has to, because critics are under no obligation to do Rafe's work for him, but he went the extra mile and still did that.

He's just not my favorite I guess. I love dissections of media I dislike, I just didn't enjoy this one.

I'm really just not sure who the angry nerd on youtube bitching about bad tv genre is for.

why would i want to watch a bad recap / review show about a bad tv show?

People who care about these IPs want to vent and watching these gives them some outlet. Just like I love watching people react to moments I love, like say Invincible's first episode post credit scene, I also like to see people trash things that disappoint me. I also want to see if I missed something or if others have the same specigic criticisms.

Given I'm an aspiring writer so I do like to see how stories succeed and fail to help myself as well.

Two objections.

Stoic characters can be done. Seiji Miyaguchi as Kyūzō in Seven Samurai. Perfect script, direction and performance.

Perrin's talking with wolfs and sense of smell can be done without replacing it with visions. It's just needs creativity. Just first stupid idea that pop into my head. Billy from Predator. We don't need to see it. We need to be convinced, that this MFer somehow knows.

I am rereading again because it's been a minute and the show is crap. I don't really understand the "Lan never shows emotion" story. Like yeah, he is stoic, but in one of the very first scenes he snaps and gets angry at Rand for not showing Moraine respect. He shows emotions when Nynaeve and Egwene are first traveling to the white tower and Nynaeve keeps hinting that they could be together. He is just a very serious person as a consequence of his life, but he isn't completely void of emotions throughout the book.

True, stoic doesn't mean Vulcan.

He's not wrong the show is hot garbage and I agreed with most of his examples.

He is honestly right and people will gaslight you with terms like “it’s another turning”

No it isn’t. This is an entirely different story with the same names.

I'm going to find some time and watch it.

Yep. They turned Perrin into an emo-tool rather than the meticulously careful, quiet rascal that he was. Fk this show.🖕🏽

This commentary is fantastic; I wish these fanatic WOT subs would just swallow it whole:
