Comparing to last season
Jason is this seasons Wayne, Xoxhitl is this seasons Charli, and Ariana is this seasons Gabby.
But last year… I feel like even the top 8 was one of the most talented groups we’ve seen. Rewatching s31 right now, and holy crap the Halloween team dances (team scream specifically)… we didn’t deserve all that talent in one season

I don't think we can compare this season to last season because there's no ringer this season. Harry is the most comparable to Vinny, but even Vinny improved a bit and actually danced albeit poorly. No one this season comes close to Charli. Ariana does remind me a bit of Gabby though dancing wise. I think this season is closer to S29.
Can totally agree about there not being a clear ringer yet— I’m big team Ariana, but have absolutely fallen in love with Xochitl and Jason. With Alyson improving week after week too, still could be anyone’s game. (Also absolutely love Alyson as a die hard HIMYM fan)
But the Jason to Wayne comparison— similar popularity (dedicated fanbase that isn’t necessarily a Twitter/Reddit/tiktok/Snapchat group and more so organic from their actual careers). Both started so strong and gave us top 4 potential right off the bat. I personally was straight off expecting good things from both of them, but didn’t expect to see them be quite that good as when they came on the dance floor. Both hit a mid way slump, judges expecting more, missteps, and then a very bold comeback. Sometimes, it feels like a simulation… however- I can very likely contribute this to the bottle of wine I drank tonight 😂
