Is op05 a good start to make some decks?

Hello! I’m brand new to the actual TCG aspect on One Piece, but I’ve been collecting Japanese for a little bit now. However, I want to get started with playing the game.

I’ve heard ST-10 is a good place to start, but where should I go about building a solid deck after that?

Would it be good to pick up OP-05 upon release or OP-04 to expand my decks? Or is it better to just buy singles online? What set of cards would you say is the best meta-wise that would allow me multiple options to play with?

It depends on what leader you want to play. If you want to play some form of purple, ST10 is a good start. I do think OP05 is a great place to start as well.

The expected meta decks supported by set 05 are: Enel, Purple Luffy, Red/Purple Luffy, and Sakazuki. Of course this could change, but these decks seem pretty solid on their own. Red/Purple Law will also have more support in OP05.

Pick a leader that interests you from above or among others and look up some top decks (OnePieceTopDecks.com or EgmanEvents.com). I suggest buying singles and only one box or two for fun if your budget allows.

If you find another leader from OP04 that interests you like Doflamingo or Rebecca, you could also build their decks. Both will gain some more support in OP05z Rebecca decks are particularly affordable.

Yes.

Belo Betty deck almost all comes from Op-05 and her deck is good and cheaper than Enel and Sakazuki by a great deal.

I second Belo Betty. Easy deck to build.

Just pick up 4x Cracker, 4x Smoothie and 4x OP04 Sanji. Everything else from OP05

ST-10 is a good start but you need pretty expensive staples for both RP Law and RP Luffy (apparently RP Kid sucks). So if you just want to play for fun, I'd say don't bother trying to build meta decks. The meta decks usually come close to around ~$250 - $300 range.

Navy staples for Sakazuki is going nuts, even the commons from the starter deck.

RP Luffy and Purple Luffy both need 4x Queen from ST04 amongst other.

RP Law needs Promo Gordon and Promo Law, with some Queens as well o.o.

Enel needs Katakuris and the big mom engine ain't cheap either.

OP04 Rebecca deck will fall off in set 5 but it can be build for ~$60 with a majority of the cards coming from OP04 except Tashigi and Three Thousand worlds. OP05 add ons for this deck will be OP05 rebecca and one legged toy soldier.

or .. Nami deck can be built for as low as ~$30 buying singles from OP03 and OP04.
