Transfer files remotely from PC to Phone?

Hi y'all !

Simple enough question. I have files stored on my PC and when not at home I sometimes want local access on my phone to one or more of them. I can turn the PC on and off from my phone and connect using a remote desktop app. But I can not for the life of me figure out how to copy a file from the PC file into local storage on the phone. Any tips pointing me to a methodology/alternate app would be appreciated!

TIA.

There may be other ways but here's how I do it:

I connect to home via a VPN (Wireguard). The files I need access to are in a shared folder and using the app Solid Explorer, I have SMB access mapped to the share via the PC's static IP address.

Will give it a go. Cheers.

If setting up Wireguard is too daunting or you have other challenges (dynamic home IP, CGNAT), consider using ZeroTier. It creates a virtual private network of nodes by installing a client application on each virtually networked device.

Could you just use Google Drive and turn on offline access on both devices? If you modify one device it will replicate on the other (unless there is no internet access and offline access means there would be copy local).

Content is too large and its need is too infrequent for this approach. Its actually my audible library. The Audible app on the phone is OK for listening, but thats about it. It would be easier to find the next book in the series I am listening to on my PC backup and manually copy it onto the phone. Thanks for the idea though!

I use Dropbox. I have a Travel subfolder and when I'm on a trip, I can call up anything that's in that folder such as tickets, itinerary, image of passport, etc.

This is for my audible lbrary. I actually do use drop box for other stuff, but the audio books take up too much space. Audible app library viewing is woeful.

Setup Plex and add audio books to that and just stream them?

As I run a plex server that was my first thought, but after some initial searchs people seemed to be of the opinion that Plex isnt a very good audio book platform. Not sure why, didn't delve into it too deeply because the overall opinions were negative.
