Why I'm getting rid of my G310GS. NSFW

Apologies for the swearing, I was having a bad MH day (I use riding to help :)).

To summarise;

This is my first bike, been riding for 1.5 years, so I whilst I rode one doing my CBT and it seemed fine, a few thousand miles and better skills have led me to this conclusion.

  1. It's too vibey. And I don't mean thumps, I mean bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt through feet, legs, balls, arse at anything over 60. For me, it's massively uncomfortable. I don't ride at that speed much, but still, if I have to get onto a motorway/dual carriageway at some point, it's going to be hell.
  2. Can't turn the ABS off whilst off road. Used to be able to do this on older models. I have no clue why they removed that option. Would be dead handy off road.
  3. Can't raise the rear brake. It feels like I'm on tiptoe when I'm stood up, which isn't a good feeling.
  4. Handlebars are too low. I'm having to fit risers.
  5. 70/30 tyres are okay, but I need 50/50
  6. Armour was plastic so I had to replace that.

I'm having to add/change too much on the bike in order to make it the adventure bike I want. Which is disappointing, because the other GS are way better straight from the show room.

A lot of the things I wanted, luggage, spots, etc aren't really done by BMW. I'd have to get aftermarket stuff, which could void my PCP agreement, and I'd rather have just bought it and had it installed direct from BMW.

So, now in the market for a 500cc ish off road adventure bike in the £5k - £6k area. I like the new Himmy. The CF Moto looks good. Bennelli TRK is out of the picture due to the rather sharp edge of the petrol tank being right where your knee is if you take a fall.
