What do you think would have happened to the people in the walls if Eren, Mikasa, and Armin had not enlisted in the Cadet Corps?

Discussion/Question

Do you believe there would be a chance for humanity had those characters not joined the military?

Everyone on Paradis dies, but the Marleyan warriors probably don’t recover the founder either.

Eren randomly falls over dead 13 year later, the founder is now in hands of a random baby. Repeat this process until Marley is lucky enough to have the baby born in Liberio and they discover it

They would have died, have you seen the show?

Things would go really smoothly for Marley. They could likely wipe out Paradise with minimal blowback. Since they have no reason to join the Survey Corps, I see all three of them joining the military police to get closer to the King. Annie likely gets impatient and launches an attack on the King, but it's likely to work as there's no real resistance the inner walls have against a Titan attack. Their only issues would be Erwin and Levi, who they would have minimal knowledge of, but they'd likely be on an excursion anyway.

Without Eren, Trost falls and Rose is breached. As everyone retreats to Sina, the government closes the gates, trapping everyone outside with the titans. It is a massacre. Eren reaches the locked gate, and like many other refugees, takes out his aggression on the wall by punching it until he breaks his hand. Since his thought at this point is escaping the titans and getting through the wall, he transforms into a titan and since he does not have control over it, he breaks down the gate. With his objective complete, he goes on a rampage, first killing hundreds if not thousands of refugees, but then turns his focus on the titans. He kills many of them but is eventually overrun and eaten. The titan that eats his spine turns human again and his immediately eaten by another titan. This happens dozens if not hundreds of times. Eventually someone notices the chain of titans turning human before being eaten and they begin to understand something weird is going on. The remaining scouts pull some crazy maneuver that allows Levi to rush in and grab the most recent holder of the founder. Since this person is originally from Marley, when they wake up they are able to give all end of season 3 information to the scouts about Marley and the warrior program. As people flood into Sina, it is a disaster as they try to find food and shelter. The scouts, which is probably almost completely eradicated at this point, know that they have been infiltrated by Marley, but have no way of determining who the shifters are. In the absolute chaos, Reiner, Burrito, and Annie have nothing left but a desperate attempt. They transform and begin eating all high members of government hoping that they will get lucky and eat the founder. There is no way to stop them and the rampage is horrendous. The scouts finally convince their new captive to try to transform into a titan to help, and once they do they are obliterated by the warriors, eaten, and the warriors try to make their escape. They are so exhausted that they are overrun by titans and in desperation, both Annie and reiner agree to be eaten by bluntito, who then nukes all titans in his path and makes his escape, barely making it back to the port where he waits for Zeke to take him home. The only humans left alive in the walls are those in the walled in cities on the different sides of the wall, but as they have no way to feed themselves, they all perish within a year. Meanwhile, bertertito now holds 5 of the 9, including the founder, and when he touches Zeke they are taken to the paths, but thats a story for another time.

That was insanely good, you should write a fanfic about this alternate reality.

This was a great answer!

I don't think Annie would ever agree to being eaten, considering how desperately she wanted to get home. She would abandon the mission before she gave up her life.

Hate to be that guy, but it was destined to happen. It's a closed loop timeline. There is no what-ifs. But getting away from that, what would stop Eren from joining? The only reason his friends joined was because of him, and nothing was stopping him from joining. At first, it was to satiate his curiosity. Then, it was to avenge his mother. That's a resolve that would be very hard to change. The only way to change it is to stop it, and the only way to stop Eren is to kill him. If Eren somehow died before joining the survey Corp, the mission to Paradis would still be a failure. Depending on if Eren had the Founder upon his death is crucial information to know. If he died with the Founder, the Founder would find another host and who knows if it would be inherited by someone from Marley, Paradis or any of the many internment camps throughout the world. There's so many variables. You would have to be more specific about your scenario.
