Multiplayer help

Hello, I am a new player and I was thinking of how I can play with a friend or two on a private server. I found videos who mess with files, downloading things, change things inside game files and I don't want to do that. Is there any way I can play with my friends on a private server that I creat without any programs or file editing outside of the game? Like, can injus take a server, join, put a password and like, invite?
